Toni Belcher is a water resource management scientist with more than 32 years experience in water resources monitoring, assessment and management.
Toni obtained a BSc degree in mathematics and applied mathematics from the University of Port Elizabeth in 1987 and a BSc (Hons) degree in Oceanography. In 1998 she completed a MSc degree (cum laude) at the University of Potchefstroom.
In 2006 she was awarded the Woman-in-Water award for Environmental Education and was a runner up for the Woman in Water prize for Water Research.
Toni Belcher has worked in the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry in South Africa for more than 17 years. During this period she worked for the Directorate Water Quality Management, the Institute for Water Quality Studies and the Western Cape Regional Office and has built up a wide range of skills in water resource management and water resource quality for rivers, estuaries and the coastal marine environment.
Toni has compiled more than 600 water specialist reports as part of Environmental Impact Assessment and water use authorization projects and compiled more than 100 publications, papers and posters relating mostly to water resource quality and river health assessments, for Southern African rivers.
Toni is a registered professional scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions and is registered for both the Environmental Sciences and the Ecological Sciences (Pr. Sci. Nat 400040/10).
Dana Grobler is a water resource management scientist with more than 34 years of experience in water resources monitoring, assessment and management.
Dana obtained a BSc degree in botany and zoology from the University of Pretoria in 1986 and BSc (Hons) degree in terrestrial plant ecology in 1987. In 1989 he completed a Higher Education Diploma at the University of Pretoria.
Dana has worked in the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry in South Africa from 1988 to 1998. During this period he has worked in the Directorate: Institute for Water Quality Studies and in the National Head Office. His work included monitoring of water resources and specialist investigations into metal, pesticide and radio-active contamination of water resources. Dana has assisted the Department of Water Affairs in establishing the functions related to water resources protection and the creation of the Resource Directed Measures chief directorate.
Since 1998 Dana has worked in the fields of water resource and water environmental education, as well as undertaking aquatic ecosystem assessments for environmental impact assessment and water use authorisation purposes.
Dana is a registered professional scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions in the following fields:
